Coach Services

What does the Sunshine Coach Service provide?

  • provides transportation for people living with any form of disability or mobility impairment that renders the use of conventional modes of public transportation inappropriate to their needs
  • provides well trained, compassionate drivers
  • provides opportunities for overcoming transportation barriers faced by people living with disabilities, in order to facilitate attendance at work, school, church, social, recreational activities and medical appointments
  • provides safe travel with professional care for special needs clients

 

Company Policies

  • provides service from accessible door to accessible door - exceptions made be made in cases of exceptional need.
  • if further help is required or stairs are involved, please have an attendant accompany you or arrange to have assistance available where needed
  • your attendant travels with you free of charge 

 

General Information:

  • the service now operates with thirteen mini vans, one mid-size unit and one small accessible bus
  • we currently employ a Executive Director, an Operations Manager, a Traffic Manager, an Operations Specialist, a full-time Driver/Mechanic, and seventeen part-time drivers
  • our Operations Team is responsible for all aspects of transportation including maintenance of our fleet, accounting and organization of routes and schedules
  • Operations Department staff are responsible for dispatching and maintenance of trip statistics
  • several hundred regular clients rely on the Sunshine Coach Service for transportation within our community and the surrounding area
  • the Renfrew Victoria Hospital uses the service to transport patients to other hospitals; for transportation of patients being treated in the dialysis unit and for return transportation of medical personnel attending patients going to hospitals by ambulance
  • Retirement and Nursing Homes as well as Long-Term Care Facilities use the service to transport people attending day programs, medical appointments, personal outings and organized group activities
  • Churches use the service to transport members from their homes to church
  • individual citizens requiring accessible transportation use our service for any and all forms of transportation for any and all purposes 

 

Service Hours:

  • Regular service hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Please note that Weekend After-Hours Service is by reservation only.  Reservations must be made prior to end of business on Friday.

 

 Booking Your Trip:

  • as soon as you know when you want to use the coach service, please contact the Sunshine Coach offices at 613-432-2134 in order to reserve your trip, providing as much lead time as possible
  • Please be prepared to provide information such as your name, address, the desired time of pick-up, your destination and probable return time

 

Cost of Service:

  • service for trips within the Town of Renfrew is provided at a flat rate.  Effective 1 July 2022 the new In-Town Fare is $9.00 per trip.
  • fares for trips for non standard departure points and/or destinations will be calculated on a per case basis and a quotation provided as much in advance as possible
  • pre-paid passes as well as gift certificates that may be applied to account based clients are available at our office and you may make arrangements by either visiting us at 44 Railway Avenue or by calling us at 613-432-2134.
